17 Oct The Future of Digital Cinema Archiving at MIA 2024

We are extremely happy to take part in the panel Digital Archiving of Cinema: Challenges, Risks, and Solutions for the Future at MIA Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo, 2024 edition, tomorrow at 2pm.

It is such an important topic, and we will be discussing it with key figures in digital archiving: Gian Luca Farinelli, Director of the legendary Cineteca di Bologna, Flavio Tucci of Kiwii Digital Solutions, and Davide Umilio of Digital Studio Italy. The panel will be moderated by Natalie Cristiani of AMC.

This subject matter is particularly close to our hearts at Mnemonica, which has memory in its very name. To answer the fundamental question of preservation, Where is this given work? today, one must be able to answer another question: Where is the data?  This second question frames preservation in very different and more jagged ways than in the past, oftentimes missing a clear answer.

The brand new service we are deploying is dedicated precisely to give a structural answer to the second question, and therefore to the first one. To the benefit of many stakeholders ranging from producers to archives, from broadcasters to post labs, from distributors to institutions.
