Mnemonica Award debuts at MIA 2026
For its twelfth edition, running from October 19 to 23, MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo was filled with 2,800 professionals from 64 countries and the Closing Ceremony confirmed its status as one of the most important events in the industry worldwide.
The MIA Awards ceremony took place on Thursday, October 22, in the Sala Giardino d'Inverno of the Hotel Westin Excelsior in Rome. The event was led by Gaia Tridente, Director of MIA, who hosted jurors, partners and producer who took the stage to honour their projects.
The evening marked the very first edition of the Mnemonica Award for the C EU Soon work-in-progress program. Independent cinema is in Mnemonica's DNA, and we are delighted to support the winning project with two years of Mnemonica Archive, our cloud archival and digital distribution service, worth €5,000. It is our contribution to helping the stories that matter come to light.
Selecting a single winner among so many compelling projects was no easy task, but Diatribe (directed by Shaun O'Connor and written by Paul Cahill) stood out for its powerful, resonant exploration of themes that deeply affect us all on both a personal and collective level.
A warm congratulations to the Irish Production Company, 3 Hot Whiskeys Productions, and thank you to producer Maureen O'Connell for accepting the award on stage.
